A PLACE IN NOWHERE

When producing my work, a common question presents itself; How does this image make me feel? This question guides my practice in the way of attempting to make the viewer ask himself or herself the same question when viewing the work. Creating an atmosphere and a setting where the viewer can take the time to think about the images and look within to try and place meaning on the feeling an image may bring about.
This work focuses on the relationship between the viewer, the images, and the space they both occupy. The images and the way they are shown also attempts to give the viewer the sense they are looking into windows of different spaces where they can dictate how they want to think about the context and possibilities of happenings within each frame.
Conceptually the work can also expand itself to think about the idea of loneliness in a space filled with everything and nothing at the same time. Within the installation, mannequins will be placed throughout the room in positions where viewers could be to give the impression of human presence.
The viewer is confronted by life-size iterations of liminal spaces that give no real sense of location in a pitch-black room giving them absolute focus on the images themselves. Technically the installation will feature, seven cold mounted images presented in a large-scale format. The images will be around two meters high and three and a half meters wide forming a semi-circular shape. The images themselves are liminal spaces that consist of both nature and urban landscapes.
